Day 1: Calgary – Banf
Leave Calgary or Calgary Airport on the express service to Banff where you have many opportunities to take in the sights. Overnight at the hotel in Banff.
Day 2: Banff (Snowshoeing at Marble Canyon)
Marble Canyon is one of the best introduction to snowshoeing and provides insights into the fur trade and its impact on Western Canada. Snowshoe on an easy trail through the Vermilion River Valley while listening to stories of Banff’s indigenous people, the explorers and the fur traders who lived in and travelled through the Rockies, until you reach Marble Canyon, a cultural treasure within Canada’s National Parks. This tour covers mostly flat terrain and you will have a chance to search for snowshoe hare, moose, and wolf tracks while exploring. Finally, near Marble Canyon you’ll be rewarded with a unique Canadian treat – hot maple taffy! Overnight at the hotel in Banff.
Day 3: Banff – Jasper
Today travel north along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper today. Massive snow covered mountains, frozen waterfalls and broad reaching valleys will be the highlights of this spectacular drive through glacier country. Overnight at the hotel in Jasper.
Day 4: Jasper (Maligne Canyon Ice Walk)
Here is the opportunity to view the wonders of Maligne Canyon from the ground up! The canyon has withstood 10,000 years of erosion and has created a 50 meter gorge. Certified guides will lead groups of no more than 12 along the frozen canyon floor and its ice clad limestone walls. Super soles and winter boots will keep guests warm and secure as they explore this wonderland of rock and ice. Overnight at the hotel in Jasper.
Day 5: Jasper – Lake Louise (Evening Sleigh Ride)
Today we travel southward via the spectacular Icefields Parkway back to Lake Louise. Later this evening, you will enjoy a wonderful 40-minute sleigh ride beside the lake. Please note: The sleigh ride normally operates mid-December – mid-March due to weather conditions. Overnight at the hotel in Lake Louise.
Day 6: Lake Louise (Free Day)
Lake Louise is the most famous glacial lake in the Canadian Rockies and one of the most beautiful in the Western Hemisphere. The lake, named for Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria, is 1,730 metres above sea level. Spend the day exploring Lake Louise on your own. Overnight at the hotel in Lake Louise.
Day 7: Lake Louise – Calgary
Mid-morning you will depart from Lake Louise, following the Trans-Canada Highway, depart the Rocky Mountains to the Great Central Plains that roll to the east for 2,000 kilometres and extend as far south as Mexico. This is ‘cattle ranching country’ and Canada’s breadbasket. Arrive at Calgary Airport at 2.30 PM or in downtown Calgary at 3.00 PM.
